Fair Trade USA

Introduction

Fair Trade Certified is a certification which aims for more standards in: social, economic, and environmental standards. A company holding the certification is intended to be transparent, with democratic decision-making. The workers in the aforementioned company are also to be ensured that decent wages are being paid with rights to join a trade union. Companies who wish to hold the certification must go through a full evaluation of their supply chain. This is done through a FLO-CERT or SCS organization for accreditation. FLO-CERT evaluates a company's complete supply chain through a 3-year certification cycle. A company must pass FLO-Cert's initial audit, and after they're given two additional audits. Companies are subject to unannounced audits which are widely carried out.
